2 Million Donut Products Recalled Nationwide Due to Listeria Risk, FDA Reports......
Over 2 million cases of baked goods are being recalled nationwide this year due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes.
On February 5, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that the recall involves 60 different bakery products—including donuts and cake rings—produced by FGF, LLC, located in Brownsburg, Indiana. This voluntary recall began on January 7 due to the possible presence of listeria.
The FDA has classified this recall as ‘Class II,’ indicating that the affected products “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), listeria is particularly hazardous for pregnant individuals, young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeria infection can include fever, headache, confusion, seizures, and more.
